The 1st Annual Nsefu Wildlife Motorcycle Monkey Run!
We look forward to seeing you again next year!
Nsefu Wildlife would like to say thank you to everyone who made it to out on Saturday (1/14), to our 1st Annual Nsefu Wildlife Motorcycle Monkey Run! It was such a success, especially for our debut!
Despite the threatening weather, the rain held back until all our riders rolled back in safely from their trip. Clint August led the pack and helped us host the event. He is the hardest working man in radio and we're so grateful he made time for us. And let's hear it for our wonderful friend Michelle Bailey at Full Circle Saloon!!! Clint brought his friends and fans and Michelle was a wonderful host as always and her team was so great. Whisky State of Mind brought the great music and made a very generous donation! It was packed and we want to thank each and every rider and attendee.
We also wanted to thank our loyal supporters Shelly Waddell and Mitch Rand for helping get the event together and running yesterday. Thank you so much to @Attorney King Aminpour for his support and most generous donation and THANK YOU to everyone who donated for our auctions and giveaways. We were so fortunate you were there for us! Thank you to Tommy Sablan and KUSI News for your constant support.
Team Nsefu is so grateful and your donations will go right into action fighting extinction in Africa.
Look forward to seeing you all again next year!
2022 Challenges & Achievements - End of the Year message from Coe, Victory & the Nsefu Wildlife team!
Your support makes conservation in Zambia possible!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of our wonderful friends and supporters.
Dear friends,
On behalf of all of us at Nsefu Wildlife, we wish you and yours a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Happy Holidays to ALL!! We are incredibly grateful for your friendship, your guidance, and your continued support. This foundation would cease to exist without YOU...our wonderful friends.
In 2022, Nsefu Wildlife has had victories, challenges, and we suffered the loss of a dear friend and original supporter...the wonderful Judy Wheatley. I wish I could say that the world has stabilized since our last holiday newsletter and that donations have improved... but sadly I cannot. It has been a very difficult three years with the lingering effects of COVID and the global economic and political crises we find ourselves facing. Inflation has dramatically impacted the financial stability of foundations worldwide...ours included. 2023 will see us making difficult changes within our programs as we try to match our size with our funding to keep Nsefu on the ground saving wildlife. These moves are imperative to keep us going and we pray we will see more stability in 2023, but we are battening down the hatches till then. Please keep us in mind with potential supporters, sponsors, and friends who want to be part of a pioneering antipoaching foundation creating dramatic change in Africa. Poaching has escalated worldwide due to financial hardships and greedy criminal syndicates. Our job is 24/7... 365 days a year. Extinction doesnβt take a day off.
Despite our economic challenges, our foundation continues to wow everyone in the Nsefu Sector and beyond. This year we had the successful Grand Opening of the Bonnie Dines Womenβs Center made possible by our wonderful friend and supporter, Gary Dines. We were fortunate in that some Nsefu Wildlife supporters from San Diego were on hand for the fun. Senior Chief Nsefu oversaw the festivities, local officials and the entire community came out in force for the event, and it was a smashing success. This new building is the new βhubβ of Kawaza village on the outskirts of Mfuwe and we are incredibly proud of it and what it represents for our vision for Nsefu. This building houses our successful womenβs sewing program and this is the first year of our new school uniform program. Kids in Zambia wear school uniforms K-12. This program will help generate much-needed funds for our other programs...like supporting our Nsefu Wildlife Ranger Team.
Nsefu Wildlife looks to create income-producing programs that can support other important parts of our foundation. Another successful program we run is the Beekeeping/Biofencing program. This year we saw the extension of our biofencing line which protects fields and crops from marauding elephants. This pioneering program created by Dr. Lucy King has successfully reduced the Human/Elephant conflict in the area and we look to expand it further in the sector. A great byproduct of using beehive fencing to protect crops is that farmers get to sell the honey produced by the hives...so everyone wins. We hope within the next 2 years to have our βBee Farm'' underway which will basically be a honey-producing program that will help generate income by the sale of honey in the region and beyond, and will also serve as a trade school for locals wanting to learn beekeeping.
The Nsefu Wildlife rangers have been working hard on the ground with the Department of National Parks & Wildlife (DNPW) protecting wildlife in the game management area (GMA) and within the South Luangwa National Park. We have had successful operations arresting poachers and collecting contraband and weapons. Our presence in the sector is an excellent deterrent against poaching and trafficking. Furthermore, the ranger team was honored by Senior Chief Nsefu in that they were requested to be his βpersonal security'' for his annual event in which he travels the Chiefdom with the event ending at the stadium in the area with officials from all over Zambia. The chief is greeted and celebrated by thousands of Zambians and it was simply amazing to be part of. To be chosen for βhisβ security was a true feather in our cap for Nsefu Wildlife.
Our conservation programs in the schools have started back up and the antipoaching initiative on the soccer field continues. Thank you to our friends at 5 Star Communications for their continued support of our Chabwera Soccer Team which helps keep young men occupied in sport vs turning their attention to poaching for income.
And lastly, THANK YOU to everyone who showed up for our events this year. We saw the debut of the 1st Annual βRock the Wildβ event...our most successful event yet! Also we were invited to be part of another new annual music event- SoCal Heavy Jam which started off with a bang and helped us raise much-needed funds. AND we are excited to join our friend, KGB-FM Radio Personality Clint August and Motorcycle Monkey for the 1st Annual βNsefu Motorcycle Monkey Runβ being held Saturday January 14th hosted by Michelle Bailey and Full Circle Saloon. The ride begins at Coffee Corner and the after party will happen at Full Circle Saloon with music from βWhiskey State of Mindβ. Prizes, opportunity drawings, and silent auctions will be on site with Team Nsefu. Sign up on our website at www.NSEFU.org or show up the day of to sign up!
Wishing you the happiest of holidays dear friends and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. We are grateful all year round for YOU.
Coe, Victory, and Team Nsefu

Thank you to Full Circle Saloon and all the great bands!
Weβd like to thank Full Circle Saloon for inviting us to join them for the 1st Annual So Cal Heavy Jam! We had a blast.
There were several GREAT bands that rocked the house...Motobabe, Void Vator, -(16)-, Mezzoa, Formula 400, Desert Suns, Lords of Dust, Awakeners and, Into The Fuzz.
We look forward to seeing all of you at the 2nd annual So Cal Heavy Jam in 2023!
New Bore Holes Drilled!
Your donations make projects like this possible.
The Nsefu Wildlife team had three bore holes drilled. They were at the Bonnie Dines Women's Center, the new Secondary School and between five small villages.
We made a promise to the villagers that if they stopped using the watering hole where animals get their water, we would provide them with a new source of clean water.
The depth of the new bore hole for the villages was about 25 meters, but couldn't go deeper due to clay layer. The yield is enough for the installation of a water pump.
New Secondary School is almost ready for students!
We are working hard to change hearts and minds to help save wildlife!
Nsefu Wildlife with support from our friends at Parklane International School have almost completed a new secondary school building. The finishing touches still need to be made, including installing bathrooms which we are raising funds for, to get this school online. This school will serve 700+ students.
Building a second school helps Nsefu Wildlife establish a solid conservation curriculum for over 1000 students between our first school and this one. We are working hard to change hearts and minds to help save wildlife!
The Bonnie Dines Women's Center is now officially open!
This Women's Center was made possible by Gary Dines in honor of of his wife, Bonnie Dines.

Nsefu Wildlife Team arrests Poacher!
Poachers know weβre after them!
The Nsefu Wildlife Ranger Team recently arrested a poacher (pictured with rifle) that they've been tracking for over two months. He was apprehended and taken into custody in the Chivano area and was held at the DNPW.
The investigation will continue and the suspect has been taken to Chipata, where he'll appear in court.
Ivory Surrendered to Nsefu Wildlife Team
More people are coming forward, knowing that Nsefu Wildlife is on the job!
Recently, someone surrendered Elephant Ivory to a Nsefu Wildlife team memberβs home. The ivory will be handed over to the DNPW staff and sent to their HQ in Lusaka.
Remembering Judy Wheatley
Judy will be missed!
We are grieved to announce the passing of our wonderful friend and supporter, Judy Wheatley, wife of Dr. Charles Wheatley. Chuck and Judy were Nsefuβs FIRST supporters. Not only were they financial supporters, they have been spiritual supporters as well in that they introduced us to others in conservation and shared our work with many. We so looked forward to attending the Wildlife Conservation Network with them in San Francisco. Judy was kind, funny, and so giving of herself to causes she believed in. We simply canβt believe we lost our beautiful Judy. She LOVED Africa and itβs the worldβs loss now. Rest in Peace beautiful soul. We are dedicating our work this summer in Zambia in honor of our friend Judy Wheatley.
God bless and much love to Chuck and their family.
A Message from Nsefu Wildlife's Co-Founder Coe Lewis!
Thereβs so much happening in Zambia in 2022!
Dear Friends...
It's been a very busy 2022 for Team Nsefu USA and Team Nsefu ZAMBIA. I am in Zambia for two months to join my COO Andre Gascoigne and Cofounder Victory Wallace to work on everything Nsefu. Nsefu Wildlife continues to outperform in the field and we are working hard to navigate through another fiscally challenging year due to the global economic downturn...this on the heels of 2+ years of COVID. It has been brutal to be honest. Conservation is fulltime and it needs consistent funding because unfortunately poachers don't take a day off and they are funded by criminal syndicates with deep pockets. Corruption and greed are rampant and they are foes we fight every single day. Your support is critical in helping us keep our promise to fight extinction and save Africa's wildlife.
GO COE SAFARI
I am excited because my first week in Zambia is with my inaugural "Go Coe Safari" travelers who will be joining me for an unforgettable week at beautiful Zikomo Safari! I will be making this an annual event for all our friends/supporters who have expressed wanting to go over with me for a stunning safari experience and to see firsthand what our foundation is doing on the ground. In fact, this trip will include our travelers being at the opening of the Bonnie Dines Women's Center that our wonderful supporter Gary Dines made happen in honor of his late wife. The building is near completion and we wanted to have our supporters at the ceremony for it's opening. It will house our Women's Sewing Program, our Marketplace, and more. We are so excited and this is just the thing we would love for you to see firsthand. By introducing economic opportunities and training in the sector, we are dramatically dropping poaching and wildlife trafficking numbers in the region. Our women's sewing program, our biofencing/beekeeping program, our ranger program, and our two schools all work together to STOP poaching. If you would like to make a gift in honor of someone, leave a legacy towards another one of our planned buildings, or fund one of our projects...please reach out to me. 100% of your donations go right into action on the ground! And if you would like to go to Africa with me on a Go Coe Safari, please email me at coe@nsefu.org and put SAFARI in the Subject line to be put on my 2023 "interest list". Space is limited and I hope to have the itinerary and pricing out by October/November for the 2023 travel season.
ROCK THE WILD
Thank you to everyone who attended the 1st Annual "Rock the Wild" event at the Jolly Joker Tavern at the end of March. What a turnout and we are so grateful for every attendee who helped us raise money for our foundation!!!! Thank you to our four amazing bands-The Farmers, Sledd, Black Star Sinners, and the Roni Lee Band, who donated their time and talent to fight extinction. And a big "thank you" to the Jolly Joker for hosting the fantastic event! We can't wait to put together the 2nd Annual "Rock the Wild" so stay tuned for details later this year! And speaking of events...some great events are coming up with Nsefu. We will be part of the 1st Annual SoCal Heavy Jam on Sat. 10/22 at Full Circle Saloon and we are currently working on the 1st Annual Nsefu Monkey Motorcycle Run on Saturday 1/14/23 starting at Motorcycle Monkey Coffee Shop and ending at Full Circle Saloon. We are teaming up with our friends Clint August/Radio Personality- 101KGB-fm and Michelle Bailey/Owner of Full Circle Saloon for a great time and the "after party" will have great music, food, opportunity drawings, silent auction items and giveaways! Both events are 21+.
Again, NONE of this would happen without our beloved and appreciated supporters. Eventhough we were founded in 2015, we are still considered a "young" foundation and we need to grow to have a greater impact. Wildlife crime and poaching are astronomical in size on the African continent...but every single day we fight to save the wildlife...and in turn, the people of the Nsefu Sector. It's absolutely working and that is because YOU. Our gratitude is immeasurable.
COE SELLS REAL ESTATE FOR WILDLIFE!!
I wanted to let you know I have returned to a business that I love... and that is real estate. I returned because I want to help keep Nsefu Wildlife financially stable to continue our work fighting extinction. These challenging years of fundraising led me to this decision and I am REALLY excited. I have been a licensed real estate agent since 2001 and I truly believe in the power of real estate to transform lives. I started at Century 21 Award in 2001, was a top producer and Customer Service Award Winner. I also have been a real estate investor for 30+ years and I have seen how it's changed my life and I have seen it change countless other lives. And I am very happy to announce I have headed back to Century 21 Award and have teamed up with my wonderful friends and top-producing team, Curt Johnson and Roni Coffer of Curt and Roni Realty (CurtandRoniRealty.com) I have worked with and known Curt since 2001 and there is no one I admire more in real estate. Joining their successful team will give me the support I need to be able to work a couple of months in Zambia each summer and knowing my transactions in progress will be in the very best of hands while I am on the ground in Africa. We make a great team and we love what we do. So if you are looking to buy, sell, or invest...I hope you will think of me for all of your real estate needs.
Nsefu Wildlife will receive a large donation with every transaction I close. Feel free to email me anytime at clewis@century21award.com and I would be honored to help you. If you have real estate needs now before my return Sept. 10th...please reach out to Curt (619)261-4023 or Roni (619) 677-9393 and they will take EXCELLENT care of you. My passion in life is to save Africa's wildlife and I will do what it takes to keep our Nsefu Wildlife team doing just that and I get to do something I love! Thanks friends!

Rangers stop illegal Timber Harvesting!
Putting an end to poaching is non-stop work!
On June 25th, the Nsefu Wildlife Rangers received tip from a public source about some illegal logging suspects using a chainsaw to cut down timber.
Working with the Nsefu CRB, our Ranger team arranged an undercover operation utilizing only three rangers.
The rangers were sent out on June 27th to investigate and upon arrival, they witnessed six people carrying two rifles. The suspects recognized the rangers, abandoned their firearms and were able to escape! The investigation is continuing.
The rifles were secured at Nsefu CRB, statements were taken and the incident was reported to the investigation office at the Department of National Parks and Wildlife.
The rifles were eventually taken to the DNPW office and handed over to authorities.

We had such a great time!
Nsefu Wildlife would like to thank everyone that came out to the OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off. We enjoyed meeting all of you and talking about our conservation programs in Zambia.
