Illegal logging operation found!
On Wednesday, November 17th of November, the Nsefu Wildlife Ranger Team found an illegal logging camp and tree processing operation.
A follow up inspection of the site was completed on the 21st of November, with the Senior Chief Nsefu, CRB, BCP and the Nsefu Wildlife team.
Four men were caught cutting the timber, along with large saws and other associated tools. An investigation was conducted and the information about the loggers was collected and given to Senior Chief Nsefu.
The man who organized the illegal logging operation was Mr. Moyo, who was working with some Chinese nationals and was probably paid by them for his efforts. He has been ordered to appear before Senior Chief Nsefu on Monday, November 22nd.
Another man, named Mr. Lungu, was also found to be illegally cutting down trees and was ordered to stop immediately.
CRB officers loaded the confiscated timber onto a Nsefu Wildlife vehicle and it was taken to an undisclosed location for storage.
Senior Chief Nsefu has taken charge of the situation and will determine what further action will be taken and what will be done with the timber.
