Ranger Report - October 2017
The Nesfu Rangers are getting it done!
Hi Anti poaching team,
I hope you are fine.
I would like to take this opportunity to say “thank you” for the support you are giving me and my patrol team!
We had five patrols operating in the past month. This month was difficult because of the death of a poacher who was found with ivory. He died in prison. Zambian officers have been arrested because of this death and the community is upset.
The senior warden will be meeting the Director for National Parks and the District Commission for Mambwa to see how the can handle this. l will be attending this meeting. l will update the team.
Here is the patrol report: 34 snares were removed at Kawenje Lagoons. Two impalas and two buffalo were found dead. Three people were arrested.
You can see we still have a lot of work to do.
Regards Thank you
God bless You

The California Case of an Antique Ivory Collector v. African Elephants
So far, the state isn’t bowing to the demands of one man who is trying to dismantle its ivory ban.
Until it was amended in 2015, California’s state ivory ban had a loophole that cost many lives. Its primary victims were those same beleaguered African elephants the law was written to protect. The loophole allowed the continued sale of ivory imported into the state before 1977, so it encouraged vendors to disguise new ivory with stains and carvings to make it look old—and further fueled Africa’s poaching crisis.

Your Donation Dollars at Work!
Here are your dollars in action at Nsefu Wildlife Conservation Foundation. Our lead ranger Charles Silomba managed to clear multiple snares preventing the horrid death of wildlife. Each dollar goes INTO ACTION saving endangered species and other wildlife! Great job team Nsefu.org!
