Monthly Update from the Field - June 2017
Anti-Poaching
After a couple of good meetings with Edwin Siwale about him becoming our new head ranger, we found out that talks have been going on between Conservation South Luangwa and him for some months now about him joining them. This was quite a disappointment as we felt we were very close to an agreement with him. Edwin still seems to be making up his mind. At the moment - at least for now - Charles Silomba is back as the head ranger. We are about to send in a team of scouts for patrolling.
We will start soon on finishing the showers for the ranger station.
Community Projects
- Sewing project
During the past weeks we met with Steven Zulu and Graph Evans a couple of times. They are of great value in order for this project to get started. Last week we have met with the women and men that are interested in getting trained. They all represent the different parts of the Nsefu district and are very grateful for the opportunity we are giving them. We have checked the building together with the plumber/electrician and we want him to start as soon as possible to do whatever is necessary to get the building ready.
Chabwera Community School
We have bought some school supplies (chalks, papers and pens) for Chabwera school and delivered it to them. They were very grateful for that, but cannot wait for the moment we will start building the classrooms (which is very necessary indeed).
