EDUCATION

Nsefu Wildlife Education Program

A critical part of our 3 Eā€™s of conservation is Education. From the outset, Nsefu Wildlife has been an adamant believer in the education of children as being part of a long-term solution to the end of poaching, wildlife trafficking, and supporting conservation. The children are the future of any country, and it is their generation that will feel firsthand the effects of wildlife decimation and the ravaging of natural resources if things continue as they are. We believe if we teach kids at the earliest ages that their wildlife and their environment are something to treasure and protect...we can help save the future for this generation. Not only are we working to educate the children, but the community as well. Youth education and community outreach are the means by which residents can be taught to support anti-poaching efforts. And now Nsefu Wildlife is guiding students towards conservation K-12!

We started off first by building the Chabwera School serving grades K-8. Cofounder Coe Lewis built it in honor of her late father Robert K. Lewis and it was built in conjunction with Zikomo Safari. The official ceremony was a wonderful experience for all involved and this school has served the region since 2017.

In 2023, Nsefu Wildlife teamed up with Park Lane International and Project Luangwa to build our Secondary school serving students grade 9-12. The official handing over to the Department of Education was a HUGE event and hundreds and hundreds of people attended the ceremonies and many dignitaries participated in the celebration! The Nsefu Secondary school serves over 700 students and is projected to reach 1000 students within a few years! This provides Nsefu Wildlife with more chances to drill the message of conservation education into the future leaders of the Nsefu Sector and beyond!

And finally, another program we are incredibly proud of is our traveling Conservation Team of Instructors who travel throughout the sector teaching conservation and helping other schools create their own conservation clubs like our Chabwera and Nsefu Secondary schools. Our team is passionate about our message, and it is just another way we are spreading awareness and education.

Between the two schools...we have brought education opportunities to students K-12 and we are impacting over 1000 students every single day! Our strategy is WORKING, and we cannot do it without your support!
