Conversation for Conservation with Coe Lewis - Ep. 7

Coe talks with Black Mamba All Women Anti Poaching Unit, Craig Spencer.

Craig Spencer, Director of the conservation NGO Transfrontier Africa", started the Black Mamba All-Women Anti-Poaching Unit in 2013, to tackle the sudden surge in rhino poaching in the western boundary of the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa. Starting with 6 young women from the local tribal communities, the team soon grew to 36 and patrolled a 60 000ha Big 5 landscape whilst Craig was the Head Warden of the Balule region. The all-women unit has diversified to include their sister-project, the Bush Babies, where 10 primary schools in three tribal villages are visited daily for conservation education and community engagement.
